“The GCL is going to be very exciting, very different, something our sport has never had before.” ~ Edwina Tops-Alexander ahead of the 2016 Global Champions League season ~
Edwina began riding her neighbours’ horses as a child before managing to convince her parents she needed one of her own. Edwina continues to be grateful to the mother and father she says gave her every opportunity and instilled in her good values.
In 1995, Edwina won the Australia Young Riders Championship shortly after this she moved to Europe to further her equestrian career by competing against the best in the world. Edwina was based with Belgian star Ludo Philippaerts for three years before branching out on her own.
The finest horses of her career have been Pialotta, Itot du Chateau and Socrates. Her motto is to learn from mistakes and never give up and her husband and coach, Jan Tops, has been her biggest career influence.
